ok when i get a text message the ringer keeps goin and wont stop till its over is there anyway to stop it by pressin a button or no

there aren't any settings on the phone that make text notifications stop playing when you touch the screen or button. maybe a registry hack? i'm curious about this too...

Did you change your text notification to an mp3?  If that's the case it will play the whole mp3.  You could just get an audio editor to shorten your mp3.

It is because the ringer that your using is too long.  In fact if you were to get text messages back to back i'm sure the text ringer will start ringing multiple times, over lapping its self.  I had the same issue when I started to add custom text ringers.  Just do as previously suggested... edit the song (ring tone) you want to use to make it about 5 - 7 seconds at the longest.  Any longer then that and after a few texts you will be very annoyed... trust me :). And there is no way to stop the text ringer from playing as there is one to stop the phone from ringing.  Hope this helps!!!

Not so..., you can use MP3 files and they won't play the whole song; I even use them for my text messages.  It stops when I pick up the call or dismiss the text.  I've been using whole MP3 songs for my ringers since Dec - works fine.  My wife however, did have the problem on her touch.  I'd put a bunch of stuff on her phone and it started acting up.  I reset all her ringers, soft reset and them added them again.  Problem was solved.
