Just got a touch and was wondering is there a program to make web browsing more like the i phone ( touch zoom, drag etc)

Yes, there are now several finger friendly Web browsers. I'm using the beta of Opera 9.5, which you can grab here:

Besides that, there's Skyfire, NetFront, Picsel, and others, including the new version of pocket IE that is part of Windows Mobile 6.1 - but it'll require flashing to a new ROM which is supposed to become available as part of Rev A.

do you have to use opera mobile or can you use the opea 9 beta on the phone?

T, you don't have to use Opera or any browser at all, of course! But, the Touch has sufficient resources to allow you the choice of using Opera Mobile. They also offer Opera Mini, but that's intended for phones limited in terms of RAM and processor speed. And, you can't use on your phone the full Opera browser, that's for PC.
