My touch keeps turning on by itsself (the screen turns on) and I'm not sure why and how to stop it.  I "think" it turns on cause its transferring or recieving data.  The bars with the back and forth arrows icon is on.  I don't know if its  supposd to be like this or if not, and if not how to stop it.  It turns on often enough that my battery dies fast.  So if anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

that used to happen to me, but a soft reset would fix it; if that doesn't work, try taking the battery out and putting it back in...AND finally, as a last resort, back up your info and perform a hard reset

I tried doing a soft and a hard reset.  Maybe I just got a bad phone.  I was going to take it back but maybe the firmware upgrade might fix it.  Thanks for the reply.   Anymore suggestions???

Well, you could investigate your theory about Touch turning on for data.  If it's weather updates, try dumping weather for awhile.  It it's a Web page that refreshes itself regularly, try shutting down your browser.  If it's instant messaging, kill that app.  Keep shutting down things you have running 'til the problem stops.  Have you tried stopping data communications, switching the phone off, etc.?  As a side note, when traveling with Touch in sleep mode, it will wake up out of sleep as you switch towers if you have the phone turned on.  Probably none of this will be of direct help, but hopefully I've suggested some things that'll get you thinking outside the bun, because becoming a detective and analyst is often required before finding a fix for such problems.

I'm having the same problem, and I have discovered that the IM client is coming on by itself.  I'll shut it down, and 5 minutes later, it comes back on in the background.  The only way that I could tell it did so is that I'll turn the screen off, and it'll come back on and it's trying to make a data connection.  I like to use the app from time to time, but I can't stand it draining my battery either - FYI, I've upgraded my phone to WM 6.1.
